Richmondites...

Since Monday we have spent quite a bit of time unpacking our disastrous house and trying to relax a bit before Thomas starts dental school on the 27th. We LOVE Virginia! Everything is so beautiful and green and the weather has been wonderful (even the day it dumped rain was fun). Our place is surrounded by trees and streams and we take a cute windy road to get there. We have been treated to some real Southern hospitality here too- everyone is so nice! It is a little strange to be the minority here, especially close to downtown, but we like it.

Besides all the good stuff, there have been a few challenges. We discovered quickly that a GPS is ESSENTIAL to life here when first starting out. We didn't one when we got here and also didn't have a phone book or the internet and there is no way to see where anything is off the freeway because there are tall towers of trees lining every road. We couldn't find anything! We finally got directions to Wal-mart from a friend and bought a GPS and now we feel MUCH better about life! We also got the internet, obviously, which makes us feel connected to the world.

We also discovered that even though our townhouse is almost twice the size of our Provo apartment, there is next to no storage space anywhere! We had to buy a ton of organizing stuff including a portable pantry, drawers, bins and shelves. Butter loves the place because there are lots of windows and places to play but is still really skiddish. We have about half the house unpacked and when it is done we will post pictures. There is some character to the place for sure! Oh and the pool? ROCKIN!

Wow what an adventure Thomas had getting there! Yea, we should have told you to get a GPS before you moved....it has been a LIFESAVER as we have moved to Texas! I don't know what people did in the 'olden days without one! :) ha

I'm glad that you guys planned to arrive a little before Thomas has to start school, it probably helps a ton to have him there to help unpack. Good luck getting to know your new state!

I am going to need hours to go look at all the awesome pictures you have posted! China looks like it was awesome! Steve and I are so happy to have you guys out here, and after a somewhat tumultous start I am glad you are all settled. I don't see how you don't like the family pictures below... You look stunning in every picture! Thanks for coming over the other night, I'll send you the recipe if you'd like. ( It's so easy.) Lets get together again soon, we loved hanging out. Oh, and those peanut butter cookies were to die for! So good, thanks again.
